Another Great Beading Class!

We had another wonderful beading class this Saturday at June Bug's in Picayune.  We worked on the Gossamer Lacework Necklace and the ladies came up with gorgeous colorways. I even got to meet two new ladies, Reba and Maureen.  Some of the women brought in their work from past classes and other projects so we got to have show and tell : )  Beautiful work, ladies!!

A Portable Work Tray and Chicken Coop Progress

This weekend was for design and construction on a couple of different fronts.  I made a great little portable work tray for my beading projects using an inexpensive picture frame (8.5 x 14 in) with a shallow, flat frame as the base.  I covered the glass on both sides with adhesive cork sheet and put it back in the the frame.  The cork takes up just enough room to keep everything secure and stable.  My bead containers don't slide around and I have somewhere to stick my needle so it doesn't end up in the couch!

We also made some progress on the chicken coop this weekend; we were able to get the walls framed!  It's starting to take shape!!

Weekends.....................

Here are some photos of our adventures from Labor Day weekend when my husband and I went to Horn Island with some friends on their fabulous boat.

West end of Horn Island, MS

My friend and I relaxing : ) !

Paul and a juvenile shark he caught on hook and line just off the beach.  We let it go.

Close up of Paul's micro shark - a juvenile spinner, I believe.

Upon closer inspection, Horn Island isn't as pristine as it appears.
All of those black dots and patches are nasty tar balls.  It never ends....................

End of a perfect day  - Sunset on Graveline Bayou by the boat launch.

This last weekend we did much more productive stuff that was a bit less fun-- yard work!  The exciting part of that was that my husband started building us a chicken coop!!  We're going to keep 4-5 chickens for our own supply of tasty fresh eggs : )  We've only gotten the footers laid at the moment but hopefully there will be more progress soon.

Masterpieces from Mistakes

In today's Jewelry Making Daily the topic was "Making Masterpieces from Mistakes".  I can't say how true this is!  My Art Deco inspired bracelet design resulted from a mistake.

I was trying to make a flat, peyote/herringbone stitched square with triangular sections in the design.  I didn't have the right sized beads in the herringbone part and it kept curling in on itself.  Instead of fighting it, I used the curl to make the dimensional turnover shaped components and the design unfolded from there!  Yay for mistakes!!  New inspiration from the unexpected!

Jeweled Orb Pendant Pattern

The pattern for the Jeweled Orb Pendant is now available in my Etsy shop.  The tutorial includes instructions for both 5 bead-round and 6 bead-round Orb Pendants.

Happy Labor Day Weekend!!

Tomorrow my husband and I are going with some friends to Horn Island --can't wait!!! The weather is supposed to be beautiful.

I've been writing a couple of new patterns and hope to have them for sale in my Etsy shop some time next week - the Jeweled Orb Pendant and the Queen Anne's Treasures Pendant.

I've also managed to work on a new design that incorporates some of the lovely pale green variegated jasper beads from the gem and mineral show I went to a couple of weeks ago.
